The importance of having an open source live chat in your web in terms of gathering traffic is unquestionable. Though there are other factors that may affect it, installing a chat software not only gives better costumer service; it can also liven up the atmosphere of you website. Its reliability is already proven and even renowned social networking sites made some work of their own in order to put this advantage to good use. I’ve jotted down five of these nifty chat services that has already proved useful in terms communicating with others.

Chatwing

Let’s talk about Facebook’s chatting system. Facebook let’s you chat with the people only when you’ve already accepted them as friends. It shows you whether they’re online at the moment or not; or if you can contact them through their phones. You can also type messages to offline users and they will still see it the next time they’ll go online. And that’s basically that. Facebook does have other features that make it one if not the biggest social media networking site – but that’s another story.

How about Google? Well they have Gtalk, and it’s, simple. It stays true to its word – chatting. Gtalk lets you invite other people through email, preferably Gmail. That’s because you need to have a Google account before you could use it.  After that, if they’re online you can chat with them.

Yahoo uses another style in spicing up their chatting system. Yahoo! Messenger not only makes you chat with other people, it also gives you the choice of playing a game with them. Not only that, you can also choose change the theme of your conversation, to make it more enjoyable; though the inviting system remains the same – inviting them through email.

Skype on the other hand is very much like Facebook, though it sorely revolves around chatting.Basically, you’ll need an account to join. Personal information on you is shown below your avatar and you get to choose your own picture. You can either choose from a selection or browse your own. Inviting other people here is much more lenient, in my opinion. You’ll only need to type in their Skype names or in case you forgot, their cell phone numbers, granted they provided it in their personal status. The chat system here is quite convenient too. Not only can you make group chats, you can also do a group video conference, which really nice. You can also send files via chat, be it picture or video files, which is really handy.

Last, but definitely not the least,

Chatwing’s Chat Widget.

This chat software is very convenient, to say the least. It installs in seconds, and can be embedded in any website that you like. It has some nifty features too, including the social networking integration capacity, that lets anyone join in the chat simply by logging their Facebook or Twitter account – or even both, at the same time. Using the custom word filters you can block out words that can be damaging or insulting to other users. It also comes with its own banning system. Granted only to the administrator, you can ban out people who are intentionally messing with your site or the other chatters. You can either block their Facebook, Twitter accounts or even their very own IP address and it’s up to you for how long the ban lasts. That and more features have been made by Chatwing sorely to improve live chatting for the convenience of its users.
